Who else wants to learn how to blog? If you are anything like most of the folks who read our articles, and comment on my content, the simple truth is that you absolutely MUST adopt a blogging strategy into your business. Why? It's just about the best way that I know of to turn your readers into raving, evangelists for your product or brand, and its only going to get MORE important going forward.
Tip #1: Connecting with Your Readers is Key
Want to know the real insider secret to turning your readers into raving fans? Be yourself. Connect with people in an "informal" fashion....rather than trying to put on a fake "front" or corporate speak. People like other people, and enjoy connecting once they feel comfortable. Make people see you are real as well, and the insights you'll glean will be enormous.
Tip #2: Meet People Where They Live
No, I don't mean going out to their homes and offices. The key is to align yourself with all of the tools, techniques and meeting spots that your customers "live" and going out there and getting them. For example, if you find that all of your audience is on twitter, you need to align your marketing message to meet them there....and then drive them back to your blog, or other content islands where you can more properly explain the benefits of using your products, services or offers.
Tip #3: Clean up Your Comments
I don't' mean the language, either - I'm referring to your responses. If people take the time to comment on your blog, you have a responsibility to reply! To me, seeing a business blog with all sorts of "open" comments, without a replay, is tantamount to calling your office and you never picking up the phone. People want to be appeased that you're going to be there for them when they need you, and the best way of doing that is to simply respond to everyone who stops by and shares their thoughts. (I do...and it's built my blog very quickly as a result).
